Well, the Hackathon is over now and we’re all pretty tired from the 48 hours. We finished our programming at 2pm, or just a bit before, and then were preparing or finalising our presentation.
At 3pm, we all had to present our work to everyone in Product Development at Rightmove. Each project was scored by a panel consisting of each project lead and some guest panelists too! We live blogged each of the project ideas but didn’t get around to blogging our own since we were presenting!
The presentations lasted a good 2 hours, after which the panelists convened to a room to discuss the scores and tally them up. Here were the top three projects:
-
Team Skittles: Image-a-Home, where you can search for different coloured property images, e.g. pink bedrooms!
-
Team These Boots are made for Walking: showing properties within walking distances of a search location, e.g. properties in walking distance of Milton Keynes.
-
Electric Sheep: Android app, a prototype of searching for properties on the Android platform.
We’re a bit disappointed we didn’t come in the top 3, however the team made a great effort and thoroughly enjoyed working together and creating a really nice feature for users.
Since we’ve been so amazing with blogging, we were awarded best blog and now have a first aid box full of chocolates! Thank you for following our blog and our Twitter account (BlackOpsRmHack), we really hope you enjoyed the whole 48 hours as much as we did!

We’re not entirely sure what will happen to our blog and twitter, but we do want to keep it maybe for something else in the future. We’re also not sure about what will happen with our projects yet, but who knows, maybe you’ll see one or some of them on the website in the future. :)
For now however, this is Black Ops squad signing out and completing this mission.
